this occurs with many of you too? whenever i launch avg my system slows down significantly (it's just scanning), then it freezes for about two seconds before returning to normal, especially during completion. i reinstalled it but it didn’t fix the issue. i’m curious if this is related to avg and wondering whether switching to another antivirus would help. you can find more details here: http://gyazo.com/9cc9bc5144e9e2175840bba4450390be

Maybe it would help to switch to safe mode?

The settings offer various choices for managing resources and CPU usage. You can lower the strain on your computer, though it may take longer to complete the scans. I’ve disabled automatic full scans; instead, it only verifies downloads daily, eliminating the need for constant full scans.

I verified your specifications; your system shouldn’t experience lag even during a heavy load test. It seems a recent clean installation might have been skipped. AVG may be encountering faulty sectors on your storage device, leading to performance issues.

Never performed a fresh setup, yet everything functions smoothly—it's just an average experience. MalwareScan and games run without any issues.

AVG performs a complete system check, examining all areas of your storage. Malwarebytes focuses on file systems and heuristic analysis only. Games utilize just the limited storage space they occupy. If AVG struggles with a full scan, it may indicate an issue with your drive. Use CrystaldiskInfo to review your drive's status and check Windows Event Viewer for any errors.
