Your 2014 laptop has an older WLAN slot with a 2.4 GHz chip that runs on a 5 GHz-only card. You're looking to switch it to something faster, like the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (model 7260 HMW). Although this card supports 5 GHz, it's quite outdated and only has Bluetooth 4.0. Are there newer HMC WLAN options available for 2014 or later?
Having trouble locating it for sale in the UK. Also worried about getting driver support. Nonetheless, I’ll keep searching for a Bluetooth 5.0 device. It would be great if it worked well. Nothing in particular, but it could be handy.
Found this thread looking for an upgrade from an Intel 7260 lmao. There's a chance if there's clearance for it in the laptop you could use one of these adapters. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017OZQDQ8 I've had success with it in a full size MPCIe slot and an Intel 9260 card in a dell latitude d630. You'll also need these antenna adapters. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L3DGJ2D
I purchased the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260HMW (802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0), released in 2013.
