In my view, this was addressed by Linus. The process involves using a configuration that treats 16+8 GB as dual channels, meaning you effectively get 8+8 GB. If you surpass the total usage limit of 16 GB, the remaining space (24-16=8 GB) operates in single-channel mode. Although single-channel mode is better than relying on the page file—which would be necessary if your RAM exceeded capacity—it isn't perfect.
