I evaluated my options carefully after considering different models. Using my router as an access point might work, but I’d need a bracket to fit it in an apartment. Alternatives like ceiling or wall-mounted APs from brands such as Netgear, TP-Link, and Ubiquiti offer better flexibility and are more affordable. While their interfaces are user-friendly, they’re primarily designed for mobile use. If I stick with my current setup, the performance drop would be minimal, but I’d likely opt for a dedicated standalone AP to simplify things.

I use a UniFi 6 lite in my apartment. I mount it double stick to the back of my office drawers facing a wall… it functions properly. What do you mean by this? I run the UniFi controller inside a VM in my home lab, so I can manage it completely even if it’s the only UniFi device you own. Some features need a UniFi router, but those are largely irrelevant. It works well with pfSense, VLANs and subnets all operate as expected.

You’re looking for a way to run a VM without setting it up in virtual machines or complex environments. Right now, the only option is using the app directly. In the future, I hope I can do it properly, but for now it’s just about having a working Unifi setup that supports mounting on a wall.

Ubiquiti offers excellent APs at reasonable rates. You can easily connect them to the wall using a strip.

I'm trying to figure out what you mean and whether you're having trouble connecting to the internet through your regular Wi-Fi router.

It works smoothly on Windows too… you don’t require a virtual machine unless you can’t use one. After setup, the program runs without needing any additional software. You only need it for occasional adjustments.

Sure, if it works on Windows I’ll definitely choose that option, because I tend to prefer using my computer over my phone for such tasks.

I’m trying to explore new ideas openly, but it frustrates me when my router behaves unexpectedly.

Many options exist like Zyxel, but cloud management isn't always required. If you need smooth roaming or mesh functionality, you'll likely need consumer devices, since those are typically included in enterprise cloud solutions.
