Availability for non-OEM versions of Threadripper Pro is limited.
Threadripper Pro remains available only to original equipment manufacturers at the moment. Back in July 2020, reports suggested it could launch as a standard product by December 2020 (for instance, heise.de, a German technology site). Do you have any additional details or recent updates about its availability?
This seems confusing. The high-performance EPYC chips from AMD are now accessible to regular users too. Why exclude us?
It's not just about security, I'm worried. Review the datasheets or specifications. If you compare directly, a standard Zen-2 Threadripper can support up to 256GB RAM across four channels. It doesn<|pad|>, so no RDIMMs or LRDIMMs. A Zen-2 Epyc with similar core count can manage around 2 terabytes of memory across eight channels, but it runs slower—usually about a gigahertz less than a Threadripper. That's the balance. Threadripper PRO offers the best of both: fast clock speeds and memory capabilities (both size and channel count) for Epyc processors. That's the main advantage—no compromise.
