Hello All,
I’m facing a problem where my computer crashes and restarts on its own. It’s really hard to figure out what’s causing this. I bought a new PSU, which is fine since the issue was also present with an older one but with lower frequency. My other components are still under warranty, but there seems to be a problem with my MSI Z790 Tomahawk Max WiFi motherboard and the GPU clip hold. Could this affect my warranty claim? Everything else looks perfect. I’ve attached a video showing the crashes and restarts. Please help me out—I’m already quite stressed.

Your description indicates a possible loose connection somewhere.
Power down, unplug, open the case.
Remove dust and debris.
Check visually and by touch that all connectors, cards, RAM, jumpers, and case connections are securely in place.
Examine the GPU clip closely—it might be the issue. Observe any movement or flexibility when touching the GPU.
Use a bright flashlight to search thoroughly for damage signs: exposed conductors, melted insulation, bent or pinched wires, corrosion, burnt or blackened spots, swollen parts, loose or absent screws, cracks—anything out of place.
Restart the system and observe if the problem persists. If it does, review Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for error codes, warnings, or events recorded near the crash times.

Hello, I understand your concern about the GPU possibly causing the issue. You mentioned trying a motherboard display and still experiencing crashes, even after cleaning RAM and reinstalling it. Could you let me know what error codes or events you see? I'm here to help you figure this out.

Not properly shutdown.
How does the PC usually shut down?
It seems unlikely to be a major problem since the error timestamps point more toward a loose connection or a failing PSU.
The PSU might struggle to meet the system's power needs, especially during steady operation and sudden spikes.
Power interruptions and incorrect shutdowns can damage files.
You might gain some stability by executing "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to locate and repair corrupted files.
But this is only a temporary fix at most—the root cause of power loss and shutdowns still exists.
Can you replace the existing PSU with another known working one?
Or try testing the current PSU?

In the meantime, make sure to back up all important data at least twice, storing copies in locations separate from the affected PC. Check that the backups are accessible and readable.

Hello, thank you for your message. I recently bought this PSU about a week ago because my previous one stopped working. There was an incident where my main home computer's motherboard tripped, and I smelled burning. After that, I couldn't start my PC until I replaced the PSU, which then worked properly. I'm not sure if this is connected to the problem.
