I have an i7 6700k but the motherboard doesn't support overclocking. I was surprised to learn a pro gaming board can't be overclocked either. The term "pro gaming" is just marketing language to push sales. The ASRock Z170 K4 is a solid Z170 board available for around $229 (in Australia), so it might be cheaper elsewhere. If your BIOS has an option, check for an OC tweaker or tuning tool.

i don't believe you can overclock on a h170 motherboard, i'm certain about that for earlier models. however, for skylake and non-k overclocking, it's not a guarantee. the safest option is to purchase a z170 motherboard with a k series chip for optimal performance.

I have an i7 6700k and the motherboard doesn't allow overclocking. It's interesting that a professional gaming motherboard can't be overclocked either.

I have an i7 6700k but the motherboard doesn't support overclocking. I was surprised since a pro gaming board shouldn't be this limited. The "pro gaming" label is just marketing; the ASRock Z170 K4 is a solid Z170 board you can find for around $229 (in Australia), so it might be cheaper elsewhere. Check the BIOS for an OC tweaker or tuning tool that could help.
