The main physical distinction lies in the software license and embedded code. Genuine windows come with a valid license, while pirated versions lack it and may contain hidden malware or altered components.

On Windows XP, using a non-original version would cause a black screen, frequent notifications, and some features would fail. It would act more like a trial version rather than the complete operating system. You might also struggle to get Windows updates working, needing to manage them yourself and download them manually. Compared to other software I've seen, I haven't noticed major differences between genuine and pirated versions, but the OS is something you should be able to use legally. Also, don't encourage piracy for anything else. One reason software costs more is the expense of illegal downloads—companies pay staff who develop it, and if too many people use pirated copies, costs rise for those who do purchase it. For me, having a legitimate copy is better than using something you had to find elsewhere, which sometimes came with unwanted add-ons like viruses. So, if you're installing Windows, ensure you have a proper license—it prevents more problems than it solves.

Based on my observations: There may be insufficient access to Windows updates essential for resolving issues and fixing vulnerabilities. Potential malware and performance problems could stem from faulty cracks. No official Microsoft assistance available. There might also be a refusal of service from certain support representatives.

It's all about getting it just right. I'm using a genuine Windows 10 setup, and honestly, this install looks perfectly normal.
