Hey there, friend! I just got a real Windows 8 SL 64bit OEM installer CD key. My main concern is whether my old HDD that I used to run this OS will still work after replacing it with a new one. If everything checks out, can I still activate the CD key during a fresh installation on the same motherboard?

It should work as long as no other device is using the same key at that moment.

Note that this differs from the FPP edition, which includes multiple CDs/DVDs. I’m unsure if reactivating or reusing the key will work, though it should still function on the same motherboard.

Only OEM supports your motherboard, not the HDD.

It depends on how the system tracks keys. If previous activations were saved, the new key should work despite past history.

it doesn't matter what you try...if the key didn't work, you could simply call the support team and they'd provide a replacement quickly. they're quite lenient about helping people get activated.
