Starting next week, the oceanic sections of World of Warcraft will be moved to Australian servers. Blizzard shared this update during a pre-launch event in Sydney. For nearly ten years, players in Australia and New Zealand have used US servers based in California. Those US servers were labeled as Oceanic and shown with Australian Eastern Time. Switching to local hosting will cut down lag for users in those regions. The transition is part of the planned maintenance on Tuesday, October 28. The Oceanic servers will be offline for a longer period. Once back online, they’ll be based in Australia. Players from Australia and New Zealand who currently have characters on other non-Oceanic US servers can get free character moves to the new location for a limited time. The upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is set for November 13. This change is exciting for both PvE and PvP gamers, especially those in Australia who are eager to try it out.

They’ve been using terrible internet, so they really need better servers with fast connections.

It's wild thinking back to that Blackrock server with the frustrating lag!

Spent just ten years with Blizzard, Graz Australia finally deserves better latency (if possible).
