I just got a used Dell that was marked as bad. It doesn’t turn on at all, so I’m thinking the memory problem might be the cause. I’m not sure about the GPU, but if there’s an issue with the RAM, it could affect performance. Putting my 2060 in could potentially harm it if the memory is faulty.

It should work similarly when adding the GPU to your main PC.

You might attempt it without serious consequences, though suggesting this journey wouldn’t be wise for me. I’d check the CPU beneath the heatsink—maybe it includes Intel graphics, and a display could work via the motherboard port if it’s present.

If you're unsure about the risks, consider these three paths: 1) locate an affordable functional replacement card, 2) discover a budget-friendly motherboard, or 3) install a 1600 AF/B450 setup with an RX570.

Well, just for shits and grins, I'd try a different PSU first. It's known that 2 things with Dell die first. PSU and the mainboard. Occasionally the graphics card, but generally the GPU outlasts the rest of the Dell. At least most I've stripped, if not all of them, the Gpu was working, the PSU was shot.

It didn’t occur to me to focus on the PSU since it appeared to be starting up, though it’s worth giving it a shot. Plus, I’m pretty sure there’s still an old Pentium OptiPlex somewhere that I could use if needed for YOLO.

It's alive. I hooked up a dvi-hdmi adapter and the CPU temps are sky-high. About half the lights aren't working, and it seems like a bunch of rats have taken up residence inside. Still, it functions. Pretty cool for a day!
