It varies based on whether the headphones handle the processing or the phone. Usually it's a problem, and I'd wish none of the laptop or PC makers would back unsupported options.

The headphones I use seem to function without any processing, being Sennheiser Momentum 3 wireless. They work with Type C and don’t cause problems on my Macbook Pro. I’m curious if this matters when purchasing a new motherboard, especially since I might want to use Type C. It’s not a major concern—I can also connect via the standard headphone jack, which my headphones support as well. Others might not have the same options.
