I've been using Fallout 4 lately and facing some audio problems. It seems like no sound appears when the source is right in front of me. I think I need to look away and focus my ears toward the sound instead. I've checked the game cache and compared it with other titles to see if similar issues exist. I've played more than 200 hours without this problem before. The issue only appeared after taking a break. Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks.

Verify the audio hardware acceleration settings. Disable it if active, as this resolved sound issues in FO3/NV.

Discovered Sonic Suite settings were set back to the default after an update, shifting the speaker mode to surround. I learned that Fallout doesn’t perform well with surround sound, so reverting to stereo resolved the issue.

Did you have RealTek audio drivers installed?
