Audio input via HDMI cannot be used with a headset microphone.
Hello everyone,
I have a system composed of an MSI GT72 Dominator Pro G Laptop (equipped with an i7 6700Hq processor, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a GTX 980m graphics card), a 43-inch Samsung LED TV, and a Claymore keyboard and mouse. I’m also utilizing Windows 10 64-bit. My issue is when attempting to utilize my headset with a microphone while connected to the TV as a display; audio plays through the headphones, but the PC fails to detect the headset's connection within the sound settings. The laptop consistently defaults to using its internal microphone instead of the headset’s microphone. Because the computer doesn’t register the headset being plugged in, there isn't an available option in the sound controls to designate it as the primary communication device. However, this functionality works correctly when the laptop is not connected to the TV via HDMI. Is there a solution for enabling the laptop to recognize and utilize my headset and microphone while the TV serves as a monitor?
The audio port on your television is probably limited to sound output, and your computer may be similarly restricted. A one-to-two splitter can be used if your laptop has a microphone input as well.
UPDATE: I’ve examined the laptop, and it features distinct microphone and headphone jacks; therefore, you will require a splitter.
