Audio input in Linux Mint feels extremely poor when compared to Windows 10.
I'm working with a Sterling ST155 condenser mic via XLR into a Behringer UM2 audio interface. The setup uses USB 3.0 on my PC, and the audio output functions normally. However, getting EQ programs to work has been problematic. On Windows 10, the issue is minimal—sometimes I need to lower the mic volume slightly because the software can't reduce it much further. In Linux, the situation is worse; I often have to crank up the Behringer PreAmp to near maximum to get any usable sound. This happens consistently across all applications. Discord, Audacity, Zoom calls, and other tools require me to boost the preamp beyond what feels comfortable, leading to audio clipping in some programs with built-in volume gates. I've experimented with various mixer programs hoping to find a setting that works, but nothing has delivered satisfactory results. Additionally, even though the Behringer UM2 supports ASIO drivers, I'm unsure if they'll resolve this issue. Anyone have any suggestions or solutions?
