SOFTWARE AFTER FRESH WINDOWS 11 INSTALL
--Discord --steam --Chrome --BattleState Launcher (escape from tarkov) --Tidal Music --AMD Adrenalin Addition for GPU Drivers/updates
BIOS Adjustments:
The only modification from the standard was enabling AMD Expo for RAM speed 6000
The Problem:
I've assembled PCs for roughly seven years now, and I've picked up quite a bit, but this has been a real challenge. The main concern is that after leaving the computer off for the night (turning it off at night and restarting in the morning), I have to essentially reboot it three times to resolve the problems. Each time, the same issues reappear whenever I power down the machine for an extended period.
First Restart Issues:
Audio Crackles: Both when receiving and sending sound (a friend on Discord hears crackles during conversations, which is the most accurate description. It happens with every audio output—Netflix, video games, Discord voice from a friend—and it’s consistent). Powering down resolves the problem.
Second Restart Problems:
Computer runs sluggishly. For example, dragging a Chrome tab across the screen feels like the PC is struggling to reach even 20 FPS. If I attempt to play a game, it often crashes immediately. A hard reset solves this, and the audio issue remains fixed during that time.
Third Restart Challenges:
Usually a combination of the first two problems. Sometimes minor audio crackles appear occasionally, but games crash without warning or performance drops. I can play War Thunder, Halo, or Escape from Tarkov without issues, yet suddenly the game freezes abruptly. A hard reset usually restores everything.
After multiple restarts, the PC generally functions properly, provided I don’t turn it off again for a while.
Attempts Without Permanent Fixes:
- Reinstalling Windows via download or USB stick
- Updating drivers using ASROCK driver updater and Windows updater (no updates required, but no improvement)
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the AMD Adrenaline addition (using DDU in safe mode)
- Updating BIOS to the latest ASROCK update (September 2023)
Some BSOD Observations:
Occasionally, I get a BSOD that reveals its cause. Unfortunately, I didn’t record them, but they usually fall into one of three categories. I’m not sure how to identify them, but I’m willing to try whatever it takes to provide the details.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! ♥ If you need more information, please let me know—I’ll do my best.

You may download the sysinternals suite from the provided link. These tools are useful even when no issues need fixing. One included is autoruns.
"Autoruns - Displays which programs automatically start when your system boots and you log in, along with a complete list of registry and file locations where applications set auto-start preferences."
You could experiment with autoruns to identify which programs launch at startup and determine if any impact your issue. Regardless, adding these utilities to your collection is wise.

I tried disabling AMD Audio Suppression and left the PC off for a day, then turned it back on. No problems, no stutters or audio issues so far. Is it possible this one start-up program was the cause? I find it hard to believe, but it’s been great—this has never happened before (the PC works perfectly after being off for over 8 hours). I’ll keep updating if anything changes, but for now it’s working well, thank you Dale ♥
Update: as soon as I posted this, the crackles returned. I think I might have to replace some parts and build an Intel system with a NVIDIA GPU like before. Thanks everyone!
