Yesterday I spent four hours assembling my PC, only to find the RGB lights flickering and then shutting off completely. I went to sleep feeling exhausted but refreshed after a good breakfast and a quick shower. The next day I woke up energized, prepared for installing Windows on my computer. The machine powered on... at that moment I was unsure what issues lay ahead.
First thing I noticed was that the case fans weren’t spinning, yet the RGB lights were still active. I downloaded the Windows update and attempted various fixes, but nothing worked. Then I searched online for solutions and discovered that my graphics card fans were also malfunctioning. Despite trying everything I could think of, I couldn’t resolve the problem. The most frustrating part was when the RGB lights from the case fans suddenly stopped working altogether.
I have four BeQuiet 120 mm RGB fans connected via a 3-pin female connector to both the motherboard and power supply using an SATA cable. My graphics card is a GeForce RTX 3060, and I’m using an Asus Tuf Gaming motherboard. I’m hoping you can assist me and will share some pictures for reference.
You probably possess various components and might not encounter any issues here. The GPU cooling fans typically only activate when they heat up. If they remain off most of the time, it’s likely fine. Even in intense gaming sessions, fans usually stay off. With a well-ventilated case, fans may rarely spin unless you push your GPU to its limits. You should be able to manually enable them or run a demanding task and check temperatures to see if they engage. The front case fans, being 3-wire units, operate on DC rather than PWM. They usually have a baseline speed or voltage and won’t turn up unless the system demands more airflow. It’s possible your hub can’t reach the required voltage or your motherboard isn’t capable. You should be able to adjust settings in BIOS and test them directly by connecting the fans to the motherboard. If needed, you might skip RGB setup until you confirm everything works. *Note*: Could you clarify the type of hub you’re using?
They seem to be 4-wire PWM fans, the 3-wire connector matches the RGB connector. It appears Be Quiet integrates an RGB hub (not just a fan hub) that links to SATA power in some models. You’re dealing with a fan hub?
I switched the LED connector to a different side of the motherboard since I couldn’t locate the BIOS voltage adjustment. Currently, only 25% of the RGB lights are working, and the fans aren’t spinning. I’ve attached some pictures.
I don't have a picture of this hub. Could you clarify which one you're referring to?
Thanks for your support, but I discovered the method myself—it feels really satisfying! Thank you.
