I observed today that two of my fans were not spinning but instead glowing brightly. With ten fans, I use fan splitters connected to my Corsair Commander. After some troubleshooting and confirming the connections, I adjusted the positions of two splitters on the Commander to test if the issue lay with the device itself. It seems that whenever a splitter meant for two fans is plugged in, it only lights up without spinning. There’s no clear fix mentioned in the iCue software, but someone suggested checking the BIOS settings. Since the fans or splitters appear to be functioning correctly, it might be time to consider replacing the Commander if the problem persists. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Not entirely certain, but it seems the commander wasn’t designed for use with splitters. A quick search later confirmed this. You might have damaged the port.
I examined the port and found no signs of pin damage or bending. I wasn’t aware the Commander pro doesn’t mesh well with splitters. This configuration has been in use for roughly a year, and fans have worked fine until recently. It might be that the system finally failed.
They're unlikely to appear on the pin list. You'd need to examine the PCB components with a multimeter for a clear result, though they seem designed for a single fan. If both fans operate at full speed for a while, a part on the board could overheat and fail. I'm unsure if Corsair provides details about the current draw per port.
This device could work well for you since it typically consumes minimal power at the input.
