I’m working on an upgrade project. My current setup includes an Asrock Fatal1ty B450 motherboard, a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, a Radeon RX580 GPU, and a Corsair SF450 power supply. I previously used the SF450, which still functions properly. Now I’m replacing both the CPU and GPU with newer models—Ryzen 7 and Radeon 6700XT—and need a more powerful unit. I purchased a Corsair SF850L to fit my ITX case, but it’s causing a boot loop: the power supply clicks on, the power light stays on, the CPU fan spins briefly, then the PSU shuts off again and repeats. Even with a full-ATX 1,000W Corsair PSU and the old SF450, the system boots fine, so the problem seems to be with the SF850L. I’ve tried removing the motherboard and everything from the case, swapping out the PSUs, testing RAM one at a time, and even using an older GTX1650 for comparison. The issue continues in all cases. I’m also planning to test the new GPU (6700XT) alongside the old GTX1650, use a known working PSU, update the BIOS, and check for compatibility issues. Any advice would be appreciated.
I attempted a few changes: swapped GPU (uses only slot power) – same problem. Removed all peripherals (SATA, NVME, GPU, RAM) – still the issue. Installed a new PSU and updated BIOS – still no change. Found an older Intel board with the same specs and confirmed it works. Tested with Corsair SF850L – same outcome. It seems I’m unlucky or using a faulty part. Maybe I should return it and wait for a better deal later.
