I'm repeatedly attempting to restart my team's SSD, but the system keeps prompting for a reboot and selecting the correct boot device.

No, there are no Windows installed on the SSD.

Sure, I'm connected with my previous hard drive from my old computer.

Windows won’t start from a drive it doesn’t recognize. Either reinstall Windows on the new device and transfer your data, or employ a cloning tool to duplicate your current installation onto the SSD. Simply dragging files isn’t enough—special steps are needed to prepare the drive for booting.

Would this require external setup? Booting from the old drive triggers an unusual watchdog warning, showing one side of Megatrends while the other displays the blue screen.

You can use any Windows PC. If your friend has a Windows laptop or desktop, connect a USB drive with the installation media, then insert your computer into the BIOS to install Windows.

Looking for guidance on your setup? It seems the system might be missing proper drivers. Installing Windows directly on the new drive while disconnecting the old HDD could help. Could you confirm the Windows version currently running there?

You’ll require several devices to finish the task. 1. Clonezilla 2. GParted 3. Download ISO files from Clonezilla and GParted using Rufus, then install via Rufus Msi installer or portable EXE. Obtain a USB drive with at least 8GB capacity. Employ Rufus to make a clone of the first USB stick, then use Rufus again to create a GParted image (optional if you only have one USB, but these tools are handy). Transfer the old hard drive to the new one using Clonezilla, resize the OS partition in GParted to fit extra space—move the recovery partition to the end sectors if needed. Clonezilla supports drives of equal size or larger. YouTube guides or tool wikis can help you along.
