The bios are where those extra bits live. It’s a messy fix on top of another mess. It might fail.
I get really anxious showing a board. Also, I have to double-check that I’m not accidentally updating it to a newer version since Gen 4 should drop over Gen 1 if I remember right.
There’s always a chance something could go wrong. But if the board includes such a function, it’s much safer since mistakes can be fixed easily. It seems to be the key benefit of premium boards, aside from improved input options. Edited September 11, 2022 by Bombastinator
Check the BIOS update section for your specific model. For an X370 Killer SLIac, ensure you're targeting the correct revision. Regarding your update, moving from 4.80 to 4.50 typically requires updating sequentially unless the BIOS explicitly supports simultaneous updates.
