Attempting to modify razerblade 14 (2022) for 5G compatibility
Hello everyone, I just moved into a new home and encountered some connectivity issues. The current network offers slow 4G speeds, while the fast 5G in Australia is available but not accessible. My Razer Blade (2022) can't take advantage of 5G, which limits its performance. I'm looking to upgrade my laptop's Wi-Fi chip or card to support 5G. Is this feasible and what model should I consider?
I'm not sure about that, since my modem/router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but my laptop only works on the slower 2.4GHz band. I want to make it compatible with the faster 5GHz for better performance.
Your device is a specific model from the series. The Wi-Fi 5 standard became available in 2013, making it unusual if your laptop isn't compatible. Updated on December 6, 2024 by Average Nerd
It seems your device had issues in the area, but it does support Wi-Fi 6 and can make use of 5GHz networks effectively.
It seems unclear why the connection fails at 5 GHz. I attempted to switch to a hotspot on 5 GHz from my phone to the laptop, but it dropped back to 2.4 GHz immediately after the laptop connected.
It turns out the chosen frequency setting was set to auto, which limited it to 2.4GHz. After changing the preference to 5GHz, everything works properly.
