Attempting to increase CPU speed causes a black screen each time.
Hi,
I'm trying to use Overdrive for overclocking my FX-8350. No matter the clock speed I adjust, I always get a black screen on all three monitors. I can see my cursor but nothing happens, and I have to restart the computer. The stock settings are 1.3375V @ 20x 4000MHz base. I've tried changing it to 20.5x without getting the same issue, testing voltages from 1.3 to 1.4, but it still doesn't work. I'm not sure what's wrong and really want to overclock this chip—it's running so fast right now!

Ok, but this doesn't solve my problem.
heres overclocking guide--but think 4.4 to 4.5ghz is about all i would look for on that board

I wasn't able to locate the overclocking settings in my BIOS, so I tried using Overdrive again.
I used a feature named Auto Clock which tested various clocks and voltages, resulting in these final values:
Last CPU clock is: 4510 MHz
Last HT Link ref. clock is: 220 MHz
Last CPU multiplier is: 20.5 X
It reached 4615 during testing without issues and was running at 1.438V.
Despite making adjustments, I still encountered a black screen in Windows.
If possible, it would be helpful if the changes could be applied through the motherboard as well, but I’m unsure how to do that.
I checked the guide above, but it didn’t assist me.
Thanks! (sorry for being a noob)
Updating the voltage doesn't trigger the black screen.
Adjusting the HT reference clock also doesn't cause it.
But modifying the Core Multiplier is an option.
Can we perform the change without altering the Core Multiplier?
