The Core 2 Duo line is largely obsolete now. Some desktops that can be overclocked or run at over 3GHz might still work, but only marginally. If you can easily get a refurbished model with an older i3 or i5 for under $120, you’ll find a Core 2 Quad as a budget-friendly upgrade for less than $15. I don’t see much point in sticking with the Core 2 Duo anymore in 2021—they were solid chips for the past 15 years, but their time has passed.
