I had an i5 2500k but now a AIO leak means I need a new CPU and motherboard. I'm keeping costs around $100. I still have 16GB of DDR3 RAM and want to stay on the same platform. I play at 1080p using the 8GB version of the 580, and I'm in the US with a solid used market. I don’t care about brand—just USB 3 and SATA 3.

It really comes down to the current prices in your region. I’d aim for a refurbished Intel CPU and motherboard that fits your budget.

Relies heavily on the region since it's nearly impossible to locate replacement components from that era. If someone is offering those older models like the i7 or i5, you can easily negotiate a lower price.

eBay is my place to buy the CPU, it costs around $25 to $30. I’m just concerned it might not handle the 580 model well.
