Attempting to capture gameplay, experiences stuttering after a short period
Hello everyone,
I've been attempting to capture Forza Horizon 4 gameplay on my PC for some time now. My goal was simply to record standard 1080p at 60fps for local playback. I've primarily used Radeon ReLive because it offers the highest quality among recording tools (file size is a bit excessive). However, I've noticed an unusual issue with these recordings: the video would become unstable after about 2–3 minutes, sometimes starting as early as the first 1:30. At times, I could record for five minutes without any interruptions. Once the stutter began, it continued until the end of the clip. It appears the frame rate dropped from a steady 60fps to around 40fps. Regardless of the content—whether action-packed with particles or static—I consistently experienced this problem.
The game itself runs smoothly without any performance problems. It maintains a consistent 60fps throughout.
I've experimented with other recording options, such as:
- Xbox Game Bar: Generally more stable, though it stutters occasionally and produces poor quality with visible pixels and color issues, even at maximum settings.
- ReLive: Delivers the best picture quality but still suffers from stuttering after a few minutes.
- OBS: Frequently crashes to desktop; some users suggest forcing recording on the desktop, but the resulting videos are very laggy—worse than the previous ones.
I haven’t used NZXT Cam, but I had negative experiences with it as well, so I’m inclined to avoid it.
I’ve tried adjusting all available settings in ReLive and nothing resolved the issue. I’ve even changed every switch on the software. Still, I’m not sure what I missed. I’m certain I need further assistance.
