Attempting to boot Windows 7 from a USB drive.
Hello! I just set up my friend's first computer and am facing issues getting the motherboard to boot from the flash drive. The drive is recognized, but when trying to boot, it keeps asking to reboot or select the right boot device. I followed Linus's instructions from NCIX, and everything seems to be in place. Could you help? Here are the specs: CPU - Intel Pentium G2030 MOBO- Biostar B75MU3B, RAM - 4GB G.Skill AEGIS DDR3-1333, HDD - Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 1TB. Thanks!
Using the files from the DVD is supported on Windows 8.1. Updating to Windows 7 requires some extra steps. Try this utility here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...nload-tool
It seems you might have misconfigured the bootable USB. Check if RUFUS was used correctly during creation.
Ha! Did you really just suggest he try Rufus? What a joke. You USE Rufus! That software is amazing ! I cannot recommend Rufus enough!
Use Rufus to generate the bootable USB, press F8 when starting, choose the flash drive, finished. Connect one of the rear USB ports, ideally a USB 2 interface.
Occasionally the Windows 7 USB/DVD download utility functions properly, yet results are inconsistent
