I assembled a PC for video editing and am attempting to expand the RAM from what I previously installed. My setup includes a G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (two 16GB modules) 288-pin DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK on an Asus Prime Z390-A board. I’ve tried adding another pair of identical 16GB sticks to reach a total of 64GB, but I’m facing problems getting it to function properly. I recall needing to adjust the BIOS settings to unlock the full 3200 MHz speed, but I’m unsure what changes to make now that all memory slots are in use. I’m not aiming for overclocking, just want to maximize performance at optimal configurations. My system also runs with an Intel i9 9900 processor. Any guidance on correctly pairing these components and RAM would be invaluable!
Begin by resetting the motherboard BIOS. Is this the same SKU? How does the new setup function independently? According to Thaiphoon Burner, what are the specifications for each version?
The ram is all the same SKU. I'm using 4 16Gb sticks. I've attached photos of my bios settings. It seems that it may be overvolted but not sure why since everything is on auto. I'm running a Windows Memory Test now and waiting for those results. I'll post specs using TB when I can.
The identical SKU doesn't ensure the same memory IC. It looks like the values differ—2133 versus 2666—and you can verify this using Thaiphoon Burner.
