The mobo functioned properly after updating the BIOS, I just reinserted all components again and checked the CPU for bent pins, dust, or incorrect thermal paste placement. I noticed a minor issue with one of the PCIe device pins—slightly bent and possibly causing a short—but it seems unlikely to have affected performance. There’s no visible damage behind the motherboard; the lights still flicker when switching the PSU and don’t respond to power or CMOS reset buttons.

It isn't the power supply since a different 1000 watt one didn't fix the issue. The problem isn't the GPU because the motherboard isn't turning on and the lights flash outside the case without it. It's not related to the CPU contact or dirty pins—my guess is either the motherboard or the CPU itself.

Interestingly, a power surge occurred last night that caused the grid to shut down. One of the outlets on a separate splitter stopped working, but it functioned when connected elsewhere. I suspect this might have damaged my system. When I tried using my PC on another outlet, the PSU appeared to work—especially with a jumper plugged in, which made the RGB light turn on.

uhm... that makes sense. systems over 500 bucks usually come with a 50 bucks surge protector to protect against lightning and outages. if yours costs more than 1000-1500 bucks, a UPS is a good choice—it handles both surges and power drops, and it can safely shut down your system during outages. i only have a surge protector for a 5k system, but we don’t get many lightning strikes or blackouts here. lightning damage is typically covered by home insurance. i hope your plan includes protection for your computer too. if they follow this approach, you might need to replace your system after a claim.

I have a surge protector and the fuse didn't blow. The outlet where my phone was plugged shows the plug wasn’t fully inserted, which means the outlet isn’t faulty. Let's continue assuming the power supply unit isn’t the issue.

It's still concerning that lightning strikes remain a serious issue and can affect surge protectors too. It seems your PSU might have been damaged, but I'd still recommend checking insurance. If any networking gear wasn't protected by a surge protector, lightning could reach your mainboard via cat cables. For networks using copper wiring, you'll need a surge protector that covers that line as well for safety. Essentially, you can't protect yourself from lightning except by turning off and disconnecting everything during a storm. The surge protectors are only effective once power is restored—they handle the surge then.

No lights, I'm in LA. It was essentially a complete power loss. The PSU is functioning properly. To check if it's the motherboard or CPU, try booting into a recovery environment or using diagnostic tools.

You have an extra component that can be replaced easily. It seems like a MOSFET if it’s only blinking and not turning on. Did you unplug the power switch and tried to start it? There wasn’t an internal switch. You could also try connecting it directly instead of using any power button.

I attempted shorting and using the onboard power button. Are you looking for an x570 black motherboard with premium features and silver details? You’re considering buying the same board from Amazon if problems continue, and you’d prefer not to replace the CPU unless necessary.
