Attempted to update BIOS, but I'm uncertain about the issue now.
Great news about the CH341A Programmer! It took some time to locate the right software and videos, but I successfully connected and installed the F62 BIOS on the damaged chip. After turning it on, everything worked as expected. This process involved checking the 3200G CPU and verifying the BIOS settings, confirming it read version F62. Now that we’re ready, we moved on to the new Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, but nothing appears. I’ve double-checked compatibility and found no issues, yet the display remains blank. I removed the Nvidia GPU and connected the monitor directly to the motherboard, but it still doesn’t show anything. Any advice on next steps? The keyboard is functional, so interaction is possible, but the screen isn’t responding.
Gigabyte is known for requiring frequent updates to BIOS and chipset drivers. Start with the F52 (likely the included board) paired with the 3200G. Update the chipset drivers to the latest version, then flash the BIOS to F60. After that, test the 5600X but reset the CMOS during the CPU swap. GL!
Success!! Thanks to all who assisted with our issue! If anyone faces a similar situation, here’s what I did to upgrade from a bricked motherboard to a better CPU: 1) Buy a CH341A programmer with a clip (some users note the connector can be tricky, so consider getting extra clips). 2) Install NeoProgrammer—the tool for reading and writing BIOS updates. 3) After connecting to the BIOS chip, erase and write the most secure version to revert to (I started with F51). 4) If it works, the motherboard unlocks and supports older CPUs. 5) Download the latest CPU and GPU drivers. 6) Install the new CPU—should work perfectly! It took a lot of effort, but we managed to bring it back to life. I’m very satisfied with the outcome; what once seemed like a $200 challenge became a $10 fix after some patience.
I'm facing the same issue—my B450M DS3H was bricked, and I just bought the CH341 today. I plan to flash the new BIOS tomorrow and follow your instructions closely. My question is: What were the numbers on your BIOS chip? I've been looking through it myself and didn't find them in Neoprogrammer. I really hope you can help me, because I don’t want to waste $140 on a new motherboard. Thank you!
