my second-hand pc kept looping through reboot after I plugged in a wifi dongle a few days back. some suggested removing and reapplying thermal paste because the cpu was overheating, but now it won’t power on. fans spin for half a second and then shut off, still trying to start but failing. I’ve unplugged the gpu, ssd, and hdd without success. The specs are: cpu i7-4790k, asrock c226 ram, ddr3 2x8 gb, evga 1050 ti power supply, cooler master gx 750w bronze.
It seems like the system isn<|pad|>, at least it's not looping again. Looks like something didn't install correctly. I'll try removing the RAM and reinserting it, and if that fails, I'll remove the CPU and put it back in.
Absolutely not laughing. I've already tried moving some RAM to see if it helps, but the CPU still needs time tomorrow. I almost just applied fresh thermal paste, but it won't be done yet.
