Hey guys I’ve got an update. I’ve successfully installed a working motherboard now, but I’m stuck at the BIOS setup. The display shows an Ab error code or possibly A6—it’s hard to tell. When I start the BIOS and click “save changes and exit,” it just restarts the menu with the Ab code appearing again. I’m not sure what’s going on. Is there a problem with my hard drive?

Pc will continue to boot past the post even with a faulty hdd. It will simply inform you that no operating system is available to load. What's the new mobile you installed? Also noticed some reports about incompatible RAM speeds with the CPU leading to the same problem. Your RAM should be okay.

A faulty sata device can halt the process.
Example
You'll understand why.
Example 2
This is the reason without a post, all hdd's, ssd's and cd drives are disconnected.

Thanks for all the assistance, my computer is working again now. I upgraded to a more powerful motherboard (from asrock 970m pro3 to asrock 970 extreme4) and everything operates smoothly. It seems my system might be generating some extra heat, so I’ll install better fans I found. I also replaced an old PSU that was overheating the new motherboard, and now everything functions properly. The cost was more than I expected, but it’s worth it compared to having no PC at all. Regarding the error codes, I was using incompatible RAM in the new board and the hard drive wasn’t fully connected.
