Just follow his instructions but skip the "take everything off" part—it should function, and if not, it won't cause any harm.
Updated, but not a good one: I switched to a different PSU from another computer (which I understand functions properly), and the issue remains unchanged. It doesn't seem to be related to the power supply.
if you have another computer available, insert your old card inside and check functionality. also consider these steps:
1. detach gpus, disconnect the HDMI from the graphics port, then connect it to the actual motherboards via HDMI to see if detection occurs.
2. remove all hard drives connected to the motherboard and attempt to access the BIOS first.
I removed the two M.2 drives (just for storage) and saw no improvement.
Then I took out both RAM sticks (the computer originally had 2x16gb) and still had no change.
Now the only components left are the CPU cooler, the CPU itself, plus the motherboard and power supply unit. As mentioned before, I used a separate PSU earlier and it worked fine, but the issue kept coming up.
Since the CPU fan cooler is functioning properly, I suspect one of these issues:
1) The CPU is dead.
2) There’s a problem with how the CPU is mounted or the cooler installation.
3) The motherboard is physically damaged.
4) There was an error in the motherboard software when I connected the 4070 without making any prior adjustments.
I think it’s likely number 3 or 4, considering the strong air cooling setup and the lack of memory of any damage before switching GPUs.
Next time I’ll try using the QFLASH button on the motherboard with a fresh BIOS, but I’m unsure if this is safe while the CPU is still in place. Someone suggested it’s possible, though another user advised removing everything from the motherboard first.
Are you suggesting the QFLASH is unnecessary if it doesn't post initially? (refers to the video method using a USB and physical button on the motherboard for BIOS updates)
Yes, I attempted it with only one memory stick in slot 2.
Removed the CPU cooler and CPU, and there are no bent pins left on the motherboard. Everything seems fine.
i would consider it a dead motherboard, so you could attempt the q flash, but i doubt it would help—it might even worsen the situation.
