I aim to safely boost my CPU performance. What is the highest temperature it can reach? How might I achieve this upgrade? My setup includes an Athlon II x2 240 PROCESSOR (2.80GHZ), an ASRock 960gc-gs fx Board, 4GB RAM, and a GeForce GT 520 graphics card.

Your motherboard lacks heatsinks on the VRMs for the CPU. Adding them before overclocking might be a good idea. As long as the temperature stays under 75°C, it should be okay. You can adjust the BIOS settings to enable overclocking. I found some heatsinks measuring 10mmx10mm. Please check your motherboard's VRMs and ensure there’s at least 10mm space between the capacitors so the heatsinks fit. The VRMs are the small squares next to the CPU socket, separated by cylindrical capacitors (dark blue and yellow). What power supply model do you have?
