At what point is the i9 9900k worth the buy?
Hey there, I’ve realized my current i5 4690k setup is a bit old and it’s time for an upgrade. I’m not aiming for the absolute latest performance, but I’d like a noticeable improvement. Right now I have a 4690k with 32GB DDR3 RAM. For my work and gaming, the system runs well on Intel CPUs, so I want to stick with them despite the performance differences between Intel and AMD teams. I checked a local Micro Center and saw the i9 9900k is only $320 there now, and it’s likely even cheaper soon thanks to Ryzen deals and Black Friday/cyber Monday discounts. At this price, is the 9900k worth it? Or should I go for a 10700k (the 10900k is a bit too expensive, and I’m only really aiming for around $400)? If possible, I’d appreciate some guidance since I’ve been out of PC building for a while and don’t have deep knowledge of the latest hardware. Thanks!
