Asus Z690 hero CPU with Code 00 could indicate a capacitor issue.
Hello! I purchased a faulty motherboard at a low price, as my device suffers from blue screen issues and other problems. I’m attempting to repair it because I already have an older microscope and soldering tools. After a week of testing, updating the BIOS, and trying various CPUs, I consistently encounter Code 00 regardless of changes. While the pins appear fine initially, closer inspection around the capacitors seems to be the source of trouble. I searched online for high-resolution images to compare but couldn’t find any suitable. I’m reaching out for advice, hoping someone can confirm if this is the issue and whether it’s fixable. Thank you for your time!
Conduct some actual testing before removing components. There are thousands available, and a single mistake can cause issues. Use a multimeter to check if any power phases are shorted to ground, and verify that all units deliver voltage when powered on. The images appear normal, and I've never encountered problems in dozens of boards during repairs. Look for cracked sections near screw holes where tools might have been used.
The board appears in excellent condition. It seems it hasn't been used recently, with no visible signs of wear or marks. I'll proceed to inspect the power phases then. Thank you!
I didn't locate a boardview for that specific model, but the Z690-E is quite comparable, so I included the boardview. Use the "boardviewer" application to load the CAD file. The main component names will generally match—like PU3000 appearing in the same location across different versions. This helps identify which phases are functioning and which parts aren't. Thanks a lot! I was trying to locate the power phases of components that work together but couldn't find it. Also, I got really confused because my initial test with the CPU gave incorrect readings on the chokes next to it. Would you mind if I message you for any follow-up questions?
