asus z 170 a boot device led indica un problema con el arranque del sistema.
I know this is three years old. I'm reaching out because it wasn't exactly the same problem, but a similar one happened this weekend with my computer not passing the ASUS logo and landing on the POST screen. I tried more complicated steps later, but in hindsight I should have started with basic fixes. When I searched online, the only results were "RMA," which was understandable at that stage. My actions included: resetting CMOS, re-seating RAM, taking out the CMOS battery and resetting again. At that stage, the Boot device LED stayed solid red. I took all SATA cables off the motherboard, but the issue persisted with the POST screen. I was puzzled, assuming USB devices wouldn't be the cause. So I removed everything except my mouse and keyboard, except for the Ethernet cable. It then booted into BIOS setup. After testing webcam, hub, and printer one by one, I eliminated them one by one while shutting down the PC. Eventually, I narrowed it to a PS4 controller. I'm unsure if it's just a weird error or if the cable or USB port is faulty, but swapping out the controller resolved everything. TL;DR: Taking out a USB device fixed the problem, specifically a PS4 controller.
PC specs: Intel i7 6700K, Corsair Vengeance LPX red, 2x8GB RAM (16GB), Nvidia RTX 2070, Intel 250GB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD.
I faced the same problem as described. I wanted to leave a comment explaining the solution for others who might encounter it. My computer ran the game fine until it randomly crashed. Removing the SSD didn’t solve it, but taking out the CD/DVD drive did. It wasn’t obvious at first that the drive also functions as a boot device, which matches the error message. I hope this helps someone later!
I found this discussion after searching online, and your messages were very useful. Thank you! Now it's my chance to respond to this thread. On my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard, the BOOT_DEVICE_LED was lit, and the screen stayed stuck on the boot screen with the Asus logo. As SwedishFreaK mentioned earlier, I had to disconnect my USB gamepad (a Microsoft controller) for the PC to start properly. After reconnecting it, future boots worked fine.
