Asus WRX90 Motherboard Problems
I've been attempting to get this board model to function for some time now and haven't succeeded. The main problem is its inability to install and run Windows 10 or 11 stably. This is my third attempt, and I've switched to the Asrock WRX90 board, which has a much better track record. With my return deadline approaching on April 10, I'm trying to figure out if the ASUS model can work or identify why it keeps failing.
My setup includes: CPU - Threadripper Pro 7975wx, Motherboard - Asus WRX90 Sage SE, RAM - Kingston DDR5 5600 256 GB, GPU - NVIDIA RTX 6000 ADA, Storage - 2x 4TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSDs and 2x 18TB HDDs, PSU - EVGA 1600W T2 Supernova.
I've confirmed all Windows 11 BIOS settings are correct (TPM enabled, CSM off, secure boot active). I accepted the TPM reset prompt on first boot. The GPU passed stress tests on Furmark and AIDA64. A test GPU confirmed no model-specific issues. PSUs changed to the test one didn't affect performance. RAM was verified with MemTest86 (passed all 13 tests). Booting with a single stick or full setup didn't resolve the issue.
EXPO and JEDEC settings had no impact. Even a 16GB RAM kit on QVL passed memory tests but didn't fix the problem. The motherboard was suspected faulty, showing a phantom drive and zero capacity on Windows installer. Booting to Windows consistently failed with error codes like "whea_uncorrectable_error."
After multiple returns, I found other boards of the same model still had the same instability. Removing all but one boot drive for Windows installation always led to the same failure pattern. Forum research revealed this model's reliability issues.
Testing with Hiren's OS in AIDA64 showed deep hardware sensor access caused forced reboots and install failures. Reflashing the BIOS from factory settings helped once, but subsequent clean installs still failed. The error loop consistently reached the installation screen, requiring restarts that never repaired the issue.
I'm concerned this isn't just a temporary glitch—it's a systemic problem with this board model. If another OS installs successfully, it could clarify what's wrong. Until then, I need concrete diagnostic info to guide my next steps.
Try removing the Asus board from the Asrock WRX90. This resolved all my issues. It looks like the ASUS WRX90 board has a fundamental problem.
