Looking to purchase an Asus TUF Gaming B460 Plus motherboard compatible with an Intel Core i5 10400F processor. Does anyone use the B460 chipset or are they using 10th generation CPUs? Is this setup suitable for gaming and video editing?

Opt for a 3600 and a reliable B550 board. It makes more sense to avoid a locked Intel chip and stick with a standard Z-series board.

I wouldn't expect a locked comet lake chip and an LGA 1200 b series board. If you're on a tight budget, opt for a 3600 and a tomahawk max or a mortar max. Alternatively, choose a 10600k with a z490 a pro if you can afford it. Steer clear of both options.

The i5 10400 performs poorly compared to the 3600, overheats easily, consumes more energy, and costs more. Consider upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 with a B550 motherboard.

It would cost more than a better AM4 option, unless it includes several ports—then you’d want an earlier cooler that fits. I’d pick AM4 instead.

If you're still keen on purchasing a B460, confirm you get a board like the ASUS B460 Plus equipped with eight chokes. They typically offer at least a 3+1 configuration with double capacitors and ideally include a heat sink for the VRM. However, I recommend avoiding this option as the Ryzen 5 3600 provides superior performance.
