Asus TUF Gaming z590 plus with Type-C and Wi-Fi connectivity
I just completed assembling my PC with an ASUS TUF Gaming z590 Plus Wifi and an i7-11700k. The motherboard includes a 3.2 Type-C port at the back. The problem I’m facing is that when I plug my Oneplus 8t into the Type-C port using a USB-C to USB-C cable, only my phone charges and Windows fails to detect it for data transfer. If I switch to a USB-C hub and then connect my phone via a USB-A (in the hub) to a USB-C cable on the phone, data transfer works fine. It seems the Type-C port is functional and all drivers are installed. Why does the USB-C to USB-C connection not work with my phone?
The issue lies with the cable itself. It may lack data transfer pins or have a faulty contact. If I were in finance for the company that made your phone, I’d advise against data transfer capabilities to save costs. Do you have any alternative USB-C to USB-C cables available for testing?
New smartphones often include unique charging cords designed for quick power-ups, but this doesn’t guarantee data transfer will work.
I'll test it with a different USB-C cable later and make the update.
I linked Apple's USB-C to Lightning cable to the motherboard and my wife's iPhone, allowing data access. A OnePlus USB-C to USB-C cable only charges via the PC, but with my office laptop's USB-C port I can transfer data. The cable seems to support data transfer, the Mobo USB-C port works with hubs and iPhones, yet the connection from Mobo to iPhone isn't functioning. Why is this happening?
