Has anyone experienced this before with the ASUS Transformer T101HA running Linux? I’ve installed Manjaro Gnome and everything functions fine. However, I attempted a similar migration to Ubuntu and encountered the same issue—constant beeping or tone noise that silences other sounds and persists regardless of volume settings. It stops randomly after about 15 to 20 seconds. Interestingly, this behavior appeared on Ubuntu in the past but never occurred on Windows 10. I’m hoping to fully switch to Linux and eliminate Windows use, but this problem is making it nearly impossible.

It might be affected by issues with the PC speaker feature, often unrelated to volume settings in programs like PulseAudio. Consider these steps: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PC_spea...PC_Speaker

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Your suggestion seems reasonable now. I'll let you know the outcome.

#". What a surprise! I also tried adding the file to modprobe.d but couldn't do it for some unclear reason—I just can't paste the file even when I have admin access to the folder.

Run the command in the terminal with root access. Use `sudo rmmod pcspkr` to execute it properly.

It appears to be a temporary setup that needs resetting with each restart.

The problem showed up even when the PC speaker was turned off. Interestingly, I noticed it more closely. While watching a video in Firefox, it happened and suddenly the video stopped, the sound vanished, and this sound began. After closing Firefox, the tone disappeared within five seconds. Unfortunately, it didn’t fix things.

If it functions, it can be stabilized using the approach outlined in the wiki. Would you like me to test another desktop environment just to see if Gnome is relevant?

I faced the same problem with Kubuntu and Manjaro KDE, so it doesn’t seem like a GNOME-only issue.

Consider DEs broadly. Set up a terminal-only environment, such as Ubuntu Server.
