Setting up a system for my son involved several components: ROG Strix X670e-e, Ryzen 9 7950x, Corsair iCue H150i Elite, Corsair RM1000x, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090, Samsung SSD 980 Pro 2TB M.2, and Corsair 64GB (2x 32GB) at 4800MHz in A2 and B2 configurations. After assembling everything and turning it on for the first time, I couldn't connect to my son's monitor and received a Q-CODE of 99. I searched online, tried reseating parts, changed the monitor, updated the BIOS to version 1807 (which was installed today), and even moved the SSD between M.2 slots but still faced issues. The system shows all components in the BIOS but fails to recognize the Samsung SSD during boot. Could you offer any advice?

Yes, the bios were visible even though there was no screen output.

I overlooked mentioning that I connected it to my system and utilized my monitor. At that time, I switched from an HDMI cable to a display cable on his monitor, which allowed me to view the BIOS.

Recent adjustment: Attempted removing the CMOS battery to reset it, but after restarting I received a d6 error code. The VGA (white) and Boot (green) indicators lit up, yet the screen remained dark. I followed the 5-second shutdown procedure on the power button. Once that was done, I entered the 99 code again and the Boot light turned green. The monitor displayed a message asking to press F1 for setup. I should note this recurring issue whenever I use the 99 code.

Connect the Windows USB drive. Navigate to BIOS, configure it as the primary boot device. Restart and the installation interface should appear. Option 99 indicates all checks passed after installation.

I followed the recommendation to install Windows 11. At startup, I received a D6 code. After rebooting, I got the 99 code with a prompt to press F1 for setup. Pressing F1 took me to the BIOS. From there, I can select the drive I wish to boot from, and it launches the installed Windows. However, I have to repeat this process each time I try to boot the computer. The D6 error persists, requiring another restart to obtain the 99 code.

Verify your GPU power connections. You need at least two separate cables from the PSU to the GPU—one can be daisy-chained. Please share a photo for inspection. In BIOS, confirm the boot sequence and ensure the EFI drive is listed first.

II purchased a cable from cablemod that consolidates all four cables into one. Regarding the boot sequence, there is just one drive connected, and it’s already configured correctly.

Remove the cable mod and connect the cables straight to the power supply for testing. If the problem disappears, the cable is faulty.

The single cable connects the power supply to the graphics card and is not an extension.
