I just purchased an ASUS PSU and then upgraded to an ASUS motherboard. However, the CPU power connectors are 8 + 4 pin style. The 8 pin setup seems unusual, and I don’t have the correct cable since it’s not the standard configuration.

you have a connector with 6 or more pins plus two, and another with 4 or more pins plus four, but neither fits properly

The 4+4 value is the EPS signal. It flows in a single direction only. You might be confusing the EPS cable with the PCIe cable. Edited July 19, 2020 by TofuHaroto

the connection on mb is set in a rectangular shape, with the upside and down sides being square ovals, while the bottom is also a square oval. however, the cable is arranged differently... images included
