I’m checking if the Asus Rog Strix B450-F MOBO is compatible with a 3rd generation Ryzen processor. I’m pairing it with a 3700X and watching a Bitwit YouTube tutorial where the host uses a 3700X. The video mentions the board works with 2nd generation Ryzen, but the official ASUS page lists support for the 3000 series. If you could confirm this on the product page, that would help a lot.

It seems to function properly; B450 fits the AM4 connector, matching all other Ryzen models. The main point is that B550 is expected soon, so consider it later if you don’t require a board at the moment. Overall, the board should perform well.

It works, though you'll require a more basic Ryzen model to update the BIOS. I think AMD might supply one if required

You can receive an older Ryzen when purchasing the 3700X directly from AMD, but you may need to reach out to their support team for assistance. It’s not strictly required, though contacting them can help confirm availability and guide you through the process.

Purchase another board to avoid working with that loaner CPU issue.

I haven’t tried it before, so I’m not really sure. Just reach out to the person selling the board and they should be able to assist you.
