It seems like you're suggesting a straightforward approach. The 3700X would continue to enhance itself as much as possible.

The problem lies with the Ryzen 2’s internal overclocking capabilities, which are embedded in its final clock value. There’s very little room for extra speed gains. A more costly motherboard won’t make much difference.
