I discovered something intriguing using GPU-Z today. It seems the laptop is throttling because of temperature and power settings. The CPU and GPU temperatures stay below 75°C, but power limits might stem from thermal throttling. The difference between 8-pin power in bottlenecked versus non-bottlenecked modes is significant—almost half. I’m puzzled by why a restart resolves the problem; it feels like it restores full power access. I also spoke with the store that sold me the laptop, but they didn’t understand either. Below you’ll find the relevant data from GPU-Z: Bottlenecked No Bottleneck Thanks in advance!
I was confident it related to the Power Settings in Windows, as it was extremely obvious. There was no actual hardware issue and no signs of a faulty product—just a generic Windows problem. I’m glad someone found a solution! Hope this gets fixed with upcoming updates. You’re definitely among the early RTX 30 series laptop fans.
Hello! It looks like this discussion is quite outdated, but I’ve had the same specs and machine for a while now. It seems the processor is underperforming right from the start. I bought it in March 2021 and was initially taken aback by its slow speed, thinking it was just normal wear and tear. Over time, I started testing it and found it consistently scores between 9200-9800 in Cinebench R23.2. Based on what I’ve observed, it can reach around 12+ GHz under load. I’ve cleaned the fans with a brush and compressed air, used a cooling pad from Coolermaster, and even tried the Ryzen Controller and RyzenAdj, but nothing really helped. It still caps around 3.4 GHz in Cinebench, and clock speeds drop to 3.0–3.2 (base at 3.3). I’m puzzled about why this happened and how to get the most out of this expensive laptop. I’ve also tried GPU fixes, but they didn’t improve things much. It’s frustrating since the laptop is still in good shape after four years. The RMA process feels like a long shot now, especially with ASUS charging high prices and slow response times. Anyone else face this problem? It seems like the issue might be more than just a minor setting.
