ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (Wi-Fi) with slow USB ports
Hello, a week ago I finished setting up my new gaming PC: ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WI-FI), AMD RYZEN 7 3800X, Patriot VIPER VPN100 SSD 2TB, MSI GeForce RTX 2070, SUPER GAMING X TRIO, Kingston HyperX Predator 32GB (2x16GB), DDR4 3000 Fractal Design Define S2 Vision RGB, EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 750W, NOCTUA NH-D15, Chromax Black, and SanDisk Extreme Portable. I’m using USB 3.1 with a 500GB drive and have applied the latest BIOS and chipset drivers from both Asus and AMD. The default BIOS is set, with only an XMP profile enabled for memory.
My issue is that the USB-A ports on the back panel (around 10 ports, mostly red and blue) only deliver about 120MB/s, while USB-C from the back is slower at roughly 40MB/s. All USB connections from the front panel give around 40MB/s, regardless of type. The problem isn’t with external drives or cables—I’ve tested multiple USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C cables, all showing speeds between 380-410MB/s with the external disk.
Has anyone noticed a possible issue? Any tips to fix this? Sorry for the unclear English, Lukáš.
I encountered the same issues, but it functioned well for weeks. Did you discover a solution?
