Asus RMA is a scam
Asus RMA is a scam
Hey Guys,
Great forum. Always helpful. I wanted to share my experience with ASUS RMA.
I ordered an ARGB mouse pad from Amazon that wouldn’t power on after some time. Since I wasn’t within the return window, I followed all the procedures and submitted an RMA through ASUS.
Then I attempted to ship it back, but they charged $88 for shipping—even though the item only costs $99!
This seems really frustrating. Do you know if there’s a way around this?
I’m just two seconds away from ordering another one and sending it back as a defective unit with the wrong box.
What ARGB mouse pad did you purchase from Amazon? Provide the link.
Avoid ordering another ARGB mouse pad—you’ll be charged for it plus shipping fees.
This situation is highly probable; your attempt to return it as defective will likely be uncovered, and it will ultimately cost more.
Prioritize addressing the problem directly with ASUS.
Also think again: Does a RGB mouse pad actually improve your gaming performance?
Never let external factors interfere with your needs.
These are my observations on the matter.
No. What role does lighting play in improving my gameplay? My performance is normal, but I just needed my case lighting and setup to include the mousepad as well.
Regarding Amazon, they wouldn’t understand. They never return items, and shipping costs are too high. They sell in bulk to local distributors who then resell Amazon returns from unopened boxes to the public.
My main concern is that it wasn’t Amazon trying to harm me. It’s ASUS that isn’t supporting their product. They shouldn’t be expecting anything from me. Although I know Bezos could afford it, Asus should cover shipping costs. Their product didn’t work, and they agreed to a warranty. The issue is they want me to pay for a replacement instead of using a delivery service. That would be quite unfair.
I agree asus should support their product and did something wrong to you, but stealing from Amazon is also not acceptable. I would suggest continuing to press asus and moving up the chain, making them understand your dissatisfaction. If they don’t address the issue, they risk losing you as a customer and you’ll share your experience.
It seems there are some good large RGB mouse pads available at lower prices, so you might want to try one of those.
ASUS's return shipping options depend on your location. If you're in the US or Europe, you can arrange the return yourself at a significantly lower cost than $88.
I'm not sure about handling ASUS, I've faced problems with MSI before and thought others would too.
I haven't shipped it myself either. I tried shipping from western Canada. I attempted to use their service, which they integrate as a preferred rate via Purilator (possibly FedEx). Then I received the quote, only 10 dollars off the original price.
My concern was: if I return it and they send a refurbished unit—which usually happens with this product—and it doesn't work, would I end up paying shipping again? It seems they should provide a shipping label or cover all costs if the RMA is approved. It's not broken; it's just defective.
I own two ASUS monitors plus a keyboard and mouse. My entire setup is MSI-based.
I'm leaning toward ASUS for my next build, but I'm still undecided.
Perhaps I'm getting a bit skeptical because their software support is lacking. I assume they'll follow the same approach on other platforms.
I've spent a lot of time searching for a solution to get MSI software help, and maybe I haven't explored ASUS options enough yet.
As for the alternative mousepad, I want everything to stay synchronized through the same system, since I prefer the Aura sync color settings. My ROG gear is set up externally, and the configurations are quite similar to what I manage in my tower using Dragon Center. Everything aligns well.
For builds using ASUS parts many people prefer them. Personally they work fine, but I used to focus more on PC repairs and recall having positive experiences with Gigabyte for motherboards at that time. In my Ryzen setup I’m using a B350 board from ASUS made by ASRock from 2017-2018. I don’t have much experience with MSI components to form a clear opinion.
Are you located outside the US or another country without ASUS support? That could account for the high shipping costs. You can ship a mousepad for around $10 with full insurance. I don’t notice any charges that high unless it’s urgent and you’re in an area without a local presence.
