Yes, a Hyper M.2 card functions as its own expansion unit. It’s separate from the two M.2 slots on the motherboard. The issue with it running in 8x mode might be due to hardware limitations—like the CPU having only 16 PCIe lanes and the NVMe drive using four of them. Since 12x isn’t available, the system defaults to 8x.
