ASUS Prime x570-Pro PCIe slots aren't functioning properly.
I am working on building my first PC build using an ASUS Prime x570-Pro that I bought brand new. The CPU I am using with it is a Ryzen 9 5900x. Regardless of what graphics card I use with the motherboard (I have tried both a 2080 Ti and borrowed a RX 6900 XT), neither of the PCIe slots on the motherboard recognize that a graphics card is installed in them and the white VGA light that indicates that there is no detected card lights up and the computer fails to post. I bought the CPU with the board so it was preinstalled by the supplier in the socket. Does anyone have any idea what the issue might be or do I just need to send back the motherboard to the supplier?
Good day Thomas,
I’d begin by showing the BIOS settings. It’s more likely your BIOS is outdated than your graphics card isn’t detected. At least reset the CMOS and check the output. Let’s review the outcomes after these two steps.
By the way, how useful are you with a screwdriver?
You're ready to use the Flashback feature. I'm unsure if you need to remove the CPU, though it might be necessary. Restore or update the BIOS by using a USB stick formatted with FAT. Obtain the latest BIOS (non-beta) from the manufacturer's website, unpack it, and place the .rom file on the newly created USB drive. Insert the USB into one of the mainboard's top ports and power it on. The system should automatically update or recover your BIOS. For more information, refer to page 3-22 of your user manual.
To confirm a BIOS update, check the motherboard status indicators beyond the light sequence. Look for specific messages or changes in the BIOS menu after power-on, which will indicate whether the update process has completed successfully.
It's a common concern that the manual lacks solutions. Fortunately, online resources provide answers. I faced a similar problem with my mainboard (MSI) and had to remove the CPU, RAM, and PCI cards for it to function properly. The back light would blink or stay on during updates. ASUS seems knowledgeable about this issue—really helpful! https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1038568/
